The Moonbeam Way

Where moonbeams drip like tears

The night and wonders here

The most sad and solemn note

Like the murmur in the shell

The dimness of this world

Is now upon me

With madness and guilt perfuming

The night – with pain that shall not part

Silence – which is the merest word of all

My secrets hide amid the lilies

And wing to other worlds, another light

Another moon we adore

It cometh – and it brings

Whispering melody, happy flowers

Bright waterfalls, tearstain stars

The kisses of true love

The breath of those kisses

Each hiding amid the lilies

The dreamer – the moonbeam way

The world I left so late

I slumber – while

The night waned and waned

and brought no day
