Seek The Empty World

My heart aches – neither night

Nor day I take any rest

Go seek some other where

The stars shall rise, the wind

Whispers softly though the clouds

And angels silver voices stir the air

But at ever gust the dead leaves fall

My thoughts still cling to the moldering past

Time to come and go

Endless night yet eternal day

And as things have been they remain

Serene, I fold my hands and wait

Of darkened love once more

The light shall gleam

A rose lay curled – bloom is full

The reddest rose in all the world

And I, who watch drowsily

A ghost of memory, will rise

In which these tender blossoms disappear

While yet these tears have power

While yet my thoughts can dream

While my voice to breathe a sigh

Remember thee – and

Haunted like a feverish dream

I cast my heart and

Seek the empty world again
