Beyond the Blurred Image

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Who am I supposed to

See before me

The mother with no children

The fairytale with no prince

A glimpse of love

Never able to catch

A treasure box filled

With hushed secrets, gentle rhythms

And the rain of yesterday

Beyond the blurred image

Of my reflection

A shadowy kaleidoscope

A glimpse into my soul

Moments fading into

Forgotten memories

Images caught and frozen

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Grinning laughter, sarcasm and wit

So cliche, so foolish

Don’t give pathetic excuses

Don’t blame whims of fate

Take sour merriment in forgetting

Close your eyes

I will sing for you

One more time

A lullaby of fairytales and truths

A tale of dreams and bittersweet lies

Make you believe one more time

A dreamer, a fantasy filled sleeper

A poet in disguise
