Impossible wishes

I always waste my
Wishes on the impossible
Looking for dreams and fairytales
A laugh you follow
A half-heard song
Seeking a lost thing
For my lost life long

I want the rainbow and the stars
The whole damn universe
Catch me if you can
Between fairytales – laughing
At dragons, in awe as
Knights fight to the stars

Where the moon fines
You wanting, waiting, wishing
To have it all
A treasured thing
So fragile and fleeting

For in this reality
There is nothing – nothing
To tell me to stop
The I wants what it cannot have

Walks with the stars
Dances with the fireflies
Impossible wishes
Hidden upon a sigh

Reality and I have quarrelled. This is where I go so he can't find me, my Other Place. Here I can spin my Fancies and Fiction, as I wander among the Stars and listen as they whisper their secret to the moon. My name is Annie, I am lovely and lonely and I belong deeply to myself. I love cats, listening to the blues, the mountains more than the beach, being lazy, writing my fancies and fiction and I also love to crochet. That's me and this is my Other Place.
